If you've spent any time in the oceans of Fisch, the Roblox experience that has players casting lines and collecting sea creatures for hours on end, you'll know how addictive it can be. But no matter how much time we spend trawling the waters, there's always room for improvement.
Recently, the developer of Fisch reached out to the community through their Discord server, asking players what they'd like to see added (or removed) from the game. The results were a mix of quality-of-life upgrades, passionate opinions on the somewhat controversial Sea 2 update, and a bunch of small but mighty suggestions that could make the experience smoother for everyone.
Here are 10 things the Fisch community—and myself as a long-time player—are hoping to see in future updates:
Let’s start with the big one. Sea 2 was meant to be an exciting new ocean for high-level players to explore after hitting level 250. But it split the community in half—literally. A recent poll showed that 57% of voters wanted Sea 2 gone, and 43% wanted it to stay. That’s a pretty thin margin.
For those who spent entire weekends maxing out bestiaries and collecting new rods in the Second Sea, a rollback would sting. That’s why I think a cosmetic reward, such as a unique rod skin or bobber with a special effect, would be a fair way to honor their progress. In-game currency wouldn’t cut it. A visual trophy of your time spent would go a long way.
As someone sitting at Level 99, I felt the sting of being locked out of Sea 2. I’m not alone, either. Over 18,000 players voted to lower the level requirement to access it. I get the frustration, but level 50 feels too low. You’d breeze in too early and probably get overwhelmed.
Level 100 feels like a happy medium: it’s achievable for most casual players, but still feels like you’ve earned your ticket to the next great fishing adventure.
Okay, this one’s personal, but it's widely echoed. Since the team behind Do Big got involved in Fisch's production, the monetization has gone from subtle to borderline aggressive. You’ve probably noticed the rainbow banners, screen-side ads, and pop-ups urging you to check out "limited-time" Robux-only items. And don’t get me started on the floating shops constantly shouting at you with their neon writing.
We get that Fisch needs to fund development. But keeping the ads low-key and non-intrusive would go a long way to making the game feel immersive again.
If you’ve ever scrolled for a full minute just to find the rod you want to use, you’re not alone. The equipment bag gets chaotic fast. A search bar, or even a star system to pin your favorites to the left, would be a lifesaver. Especially as the game continues to introduce more rods, keeping organised should be easier, not harder.
This one had the community pretty united. When asked whether they'd prefer a separate Lobster Boat and Fishing Net Boat, or a single boat with attachable gear, 74% of players voted for the all-in-one model.
A boat that actually does something beyond just looking cool? Yes, please. Imagine swapping out tools depending on what sea creatures you're targeting or what method of fishing you’re using. It adds variety and practicality, two things Fisch could definitely use more of.
This might be one of the most important requests on this list. Fisch has struggled with scams since day one. Trading has been pulled from the game more than once because there's no actual system in place—just manual drop-offs that make it easy to get ripped off.
A real, safe, player-to-player trade interface would eliminate scammers overnight. Let us trade items, gear, and maybe even fish through a proper menu. The demand is huge, and it would help build a stronger, more cooperative player economy.
XP isn’t usually a problem... Unless you’re aiming for the Second Sea. With the current level requirement set at 250, grinding XP suddenly becomes the only thing you’re thinking about. A lot of players voted for faster ways to level up, and it makes sense.
But here’s the thing: if the devs lowered the Second Sea entry level to something more reasonable, like 100, I don’t think we’d need a big XP rework at all. It’s not a widespread issue, just one created by the new content barrier.
Right now, we’ve got fishing rods and crab cages (and nukes, I guess). That’s it. While both are fun, the idea of more fishing techniques opens the door to new gameplay loops. Maybe we could get spearfishing, deep-sea trawling, or even passive fishing traps?
Adding variety wouldn’t just make the game more interesting, it would also give Fisch a boost of simulation depth and make it stand out among other Roblox games.
This one came in lower on the poll at just 9%, but that's 8,400+ players that still raised their hands for it. Fisch has a massive, mysterious world, but outside of quest dialogue, there’s very little storytelling.
It’s time for the devs to dive deeper into lore. Hire a writer or two. We want backstories for characters, myths about rare sea creatures, secrets buried in the sand. Build on what’s already there and create a connected, immersive world.
It might sound strange coming from a fishing game fan, but we do not need more rods. There are already loads. But what we do need are new passive abilities—skills or item bonuses that actually change how you play.
Fishing rod enchantments are cool, but limited. Imagine passives that give you better fish tracking, increase rare fish spawn rates, or let you multi-catch in one cast. That’s the kind of gameplay shake-up we’re all looking for.
Considering that it was the developer posting all of these polls, hopefully, we'll see some decent changes in Fisch as the year continues.
